All year, we walked through God’s Story—ending with the vital role that each one of us has to play.During the summer, we’re digging even deeper into our mission to live like Jesus and share His love with others. That’s why this month’s theme is “Kingdom Quest—Seeking the Greatest Treasure.”
Sometimes, parables can be confusing for concrete-thinking kids. Be sure to explain that these are stories Jesus told to help teach us something, rather than real, historical events. It’s also important to remember that characters in a parable don’t perfectly represent people or God. For instance, the shepherd in The Story of the Lost Sheep leaves behind 99 sheep to find the lost one. But even if we’re one of the 99 sheep who aren’t “lost” at the moment, God is still always with us and will never leave us on our own.
