SERIES: HSM – WHO’S YOUR NEIGHBOR? | 4 WEEKS ON LOVING OTHERS
SERIES OVERVIEW (DOWNLOAD SERIES OVERVIEW)
High school students are navigating a world shaped by division, identity pressure, and cultural tension. In Who’s Your Neighbor?, students will discover that Jesus doesn’t just command love — He demonstrates it. Through four key passages, we’ll explore what it means to cross boundaries, receive the Gospel, tear down walls, and live lives that clearly point others to Christ. This series moves students from compassion to conviction to mission, helping them understand that loving their neighbor ultimately means revealing Jesus.
OVERVIEW FOR EACH WEEK IN THIS SERIES:
3.1- WEEK 1 – The Good Samaritan Pt.1
TEXT: Luke 10:25-37
BIG IDEA: Jesus calls us to love across boundaries, not just within comfort zones.
SUMMARY: In the Parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus challenges the idea of defining who “counts” as a neighbor. Students will wrestle with who they subconsciously exclude and be invited to move toward others with intentional compassion. This week emphasizes that love often requires crossing social, relational, and cultural lines — and that following Jesus means moving first.
3.8- WEEK 2 – The Good Samaritan (Gospel Focus)[DODGEBALL WEEK]
TEXT: Luke 10:25-37; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8-9
BIG IDEA: Jesus came to rescue us when we couldn’t rescue ourselves.
SUMMARY: Before we can love others well, we must understand how deeply we needed rescuing ourselves. This week presents a clear Gospel message: sin separates us from God, but Jesus stepped in as our substitute and paid the cost we could never pay. Students will hear a direct call to respond in faith and trust Christ personally.
3.15- WEEK 3 – The Samaritan Woman at the Well
TEXT: John 4:1-42
BIG IDEA: The Gospel has the power to tear down walls and open hearts.
SUMMARY: Through Jesus’ interaction with the Samaritan woman, students will see how the Gospel dismantles cultural, relational, and moral barriers. Jesus models compassion without compromise and dignity without dilution of truth. Students will be challenged to move toward people others avoid and to share their faith with clarity and courage.
3.22- WEEK 4 – Jesus Feeds the 5,000
TEXT: John 6:1-15, 35
BIG IDEA: Our love is not the Savior — it’s the sign that points to Him.
SUMMARY: When Jesus fed the 5,000, the miracle was a sign pointing to something greater: He is the Bread of Life. In the same way, our compassion and good deeds are not the finish line — they are meant to point people to Jesus. Students will be challenged to examine their motives, speak honestly about their faith, and live lives that clearly reflect Christ.
