SERIES: ILLUMINATE | 3  WEEKS ON CHRISTMAS

SERIES OVERVIEW (DOWNLOAD SERIES OVERVIEW)

In a world often marked by darkness, fear, and confusion, Illuminate invites students to experience the light of Jesus — the light that was promised, revealed, and now shines through us. Across three weeks, this series walks through the story of God’s plan to bring light into our world, from prophecy to fulfillment to participation. Each session builds on the last, showing that the same light that broke into the world at Christmas still shines in and through us today.

Series Goal:

By the end of Illuminate, students will understand that Jesus is not just a story we celebrate at Christmas — He is the promised light who breaks through darkness and empowers us to shine His light in our world every day.

OVERVIEW FOR EACH WEEK IN THIS SERIES:

12.7-WEEK 1 – The Light Predicted

Big Idea: Jesus stepped in to meet humanity’s most desperate need.
Scripture: Isaiah 9:1–7; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18; John 8:12
Summary: Centuries before Jesus’ birth, Isaiah spoke of a light that would one day pierce the world’s darkness. This week explores how Jesus fulfills those ancient prophecies, bringing hope to people walking in despair. God’s promise of a Savior reminds us that even in our darkest moments, He is working to bring light and restoration.

12.14-WEEK 2 – The Light Breaks Through

Big Idea: Jesus is our light in the darkness.
Scripture: Luke 2:8–20; Matthew 2:1–12; Isaiah 9:2; John 3:16
Summary: When Jesus was born, light literally broke through the night sky — and spiritually broke through the world’s darkness. From shepherds in the fields to wise men from far away, God revealed that this light was for everyone, everywhere. This session celebrates the arrival of Jesus as the ultimate “lights flipped on” moment in human history.

12.21-WEEK 3 – The Light Within Us

Big Idea: We must carry the light with us.
Scripture: Matthew 5:14–16; Isaiah 9:2; 1 John 1:5; John 8:12; John 1:5, 9
Summary: Jesus not only came as the light of the world — He calls His followers to be that light too. This final week challenges students to live out their faith through visible actions that reflect the love and goodness of God. When we let our light shine, people see Jesus through us and are drawn to praise the Father.
