SERIES: JAMES Part 1 | 3  WEEKS ON BOOK STUDY: PERSEVERANCE

SERIES OVERVIEW (DOWNLOAD SERIES OVERVIEW)

Life applies pressure — and pressure reveals what our faith is really made of. In this first part of our journey through James, we’ll discover that trials grow us, temptation exposes us, and obedience transforms us. Real faith isn’t fragile — when it’s genuine, it gets stronger under pressure.

OVERVIEW FOR EACH WEEK IN THIS SERIES:

4.12 -WEEK 1 – FACING TRIALS

TEXT: James 1:1-12
BIG IDEA: Real faith doesn’t fall apart under pressure; it grows stronger through it.
SUMMARY: Trials are not interruptions to your faith; they are opportunities for it to mature. James teaches that God uses pressure to produce perseverance, shaping us into people who are spiritually steady and complete. When we choose trust over panic, pressure becomes part of our growth.

4.19 -WEEK 2 – FACING TEMPTATIONS

TEXT: James 1:13-18
BIG IDEA: Temptation promises life but always leads to death.
SUMMARY: Temptation doesn’t begin with God — it begins with our own desires. What looks exciting or satisfying in the moment often leads somewhere destructive. James exposes the progression of sin and reminds us that real life isn’t found in giving in, but in trusting the unchanging goodness of God.

4.26 -WEEK 3 – FACING THE MIRROR

TEXT: James 1:19-27
BIG IDEA: Faith isn’t just about what we hear; it’s about what we do.
SUMMARY: Hearing God’s Word without living it out leads to self-deception. James calls believers to move beyond passive listening into active obedience, showing that authentic faith is visible in everyday actions. God’s Word transforms us when we allow it to shape how we speak, act, and love.
